Case Study: How to rank for a keyword

In 2019, I started a website focused on the baby niche. My main motive was to make money through Amazon affiliate marketing. However, I always liked to work with competitive niches, so I picked the baby niche as my chosen field. Last few years, I actually have tried several things to rank top on Google for various terms, and I have succeeded so far. Today, I will share a Case Study, but before that, let’s get an idea of how does keywords ranking work?

How does keyword ranking work?

Google’s algorithm evaluates a website based on the relevance of its keywords to the user’s search query. The more relevant keywords a website has, the higher its rank will be in Google’s search engine results pages (SERPs). The higher a website’s rank, the more likely users will find it when they search for information on that topic. To improve their ranking, website owners can target specific keywords with their content.

How to rank for keywords on Google ?

There are various ways to ranking high on Google. You can start by getting an idea of what people are looking for in a particular niche and then research the related keywords. Keywords research is the most important part of your SEO technique. This is because you would be able to better understand the keywords people are searching for and also grab additional traffic from those keywords. You can find out what people are actually searching for by doing a Google search.

You need to type the keywords into the Google search bar to do keyword research. If you want to find out what people are searching for, just type some of your keywords in the search bar and see what comes up. To find out a lot of information about keywords by doing a Google search on the related blog post. This way, you will be able to get more information about the keywords people are searching for so that you would be able to better understand how to rank these keywords. You will also be able to get some ideas about how you would be able to rank these keywords so that they are going to give you more traffic.

Once you have finished doing your keyword research, it is time for you to do your competitor analysis. First, you will need to find out what your competitors are doing to get a feel of how you would be able to compete with them. For this, you need to search for some of the pages ranking very well and then compare them with your page. You will find that there are a lot of similarities between how your page is ranking and what your competitors are doing. You can get some very good ideas from this to be able to rank better in the future.

In this keyword research case study, I will show you a step-by-step process of how I ranked in the top 3 results without doing any backlinking, just find out a profitable keyword. And you can also follow similar steps. So start the Keyword research case study with the answer to the question- which type of keyword ranks quickly?

Which type of keyword ranks quickly?

In search engine optimization (SEO), the golden keyword ratio is a data-driven way to find underserved keywords on the internet. The KGR algorithm considers a keyword’s competition, its phrase density, and how common that phrase is across the internet. This method can help you find not commonly used keywords but still have a high potential for ranking well on search engine results pages (SERP).

According to Mangools Doug Cunnington, the KGR keyword starts to rank on two days.

How I find KGR keywords?

At first, you have to find a keyword with a monthly search volume that should be less than 250.

Then you have to find out the result for this search term. To find out the result, you will use the following techniques-

allintitle: your keyword

Check the picture below for a better understanding. Here I have used a random keyword.

KGR Teqnique-Image

In the next step to finding out the difficulty level, let’s divide the “allintitle results” by “monthly search volume.”

allintitle results ÷ monthly search volume = if the result is 0.25 or less than 0.25, it’s a KGR keyword.

So, the keyword “Best Piano App For Pc” has a monthly search volume- 40, and allintitle results are-10.

And the result is,

10 (allintitle results) ÷ 40 (monthly search volume) = 0.25 which is a KGR keyword.

You will find various articles on the KGR technique on Google,

In the initial stage of my website, I used the KGR technique to rank quickly on Google to get some traffic. Believe it or not, it works. By following KGR techniques, you can rank on top of Google and get some traffic. But you have to follow here few things to get a better result-

  • Make sure the “allintitle results” are 0, 1 or 2. That means there is all most no competition, or the keyword is untapped.

  • Secondly, you have to publish several KGR articles. What people do they think publishing 1 or 2, 3 articles by following KGR technique but won’t get the result? You have to publish at least 10 to 15 pieces to get the result.
  • Also, you have to keep in mind the competition. To rank on top, you must manually check the completion level for a specific keyword. Make sure there is no giant site ranking for this keyword.

This is how to rank for a keyword fast on Google. This is the technique I have mainly used at the initial stage of the website. But after one and half years, I have started to target the keywords with a search volume of more than 250.

Keyword research case study- monthly high search volume

After one and half years, I have started to target the keywords that have 300 to 500 search volumes. And I have ranked top 3 results for my targeted keywords. Let’s see what technique I have followed-

STEP-1

I have used a keyword research tool named- Kwfinder. The keyword tools are paid, but you can use other free keyword research tools and follow the same method.

For demo purposes, here I have picked a keyword- baseball bats.

Through KWfinder, I have set the keyword’s monthly search volume from 250 to 500. And put the difficulty level 20, which is easy. But this keyword difficulty level may differ from tool to tool.

STEP-2

Then I selected a keyword that matches my needs: “demarini drop 3″ the keyword has 390 search volume, and the difficulty level is 20.

Also, the keyword demand throughout the year is constant, which indicates it’s a good keyword.

But to find out is the best keyword or the less competitive, we have to do more tests…

  • Check how many websites use the same phrase in their URL by using the technique- allinurl: demarini drop 3. Also, check the search results of this keyword as we have done earlier in the KGR method, which is- allintitle: demarini drop 3

  • Then check the competition level manually through Moz extension, and make sure there are fewer DA (Domain Authority) sites and fewer PA (Page Authority) sites rank. If you find out more than two and three sites are ranking with less PA and DA, it indicates you can beat them. I normally check if there are any less DA and PA sites than my site ranking for this search term.

  • Also, take into count the domain age. If you find out there are few websites with less than a year, then it’s a positive sign for you.

  • There are other things to check, like- is there any Question Answer sites, YouTube video or Pinterest ranking for this search term? If “Yes”, it also indicates a positive sign for you.

If all those parameters match than you should move to the next steps –

STEP-3

In this third steps, you will look at how the competitors wrote their articles? Are they cover all the topics? Mainly in these steps, you will analyze the content gap of the competitors. Try to write the essay in this way where you will cover all the topics that your other competitors have included and include the issues that your competitors don’t. Make sure your article format should be better than your competitors. When you do this part, just keep in mind you are the reader. Here article length is not the main focus point. Make sure it is user friendly and serves the best purpose for your readers.

To take more advantage, you can add more- images than your competitors, or you can add an info-graphic or a video to provide value to your reads.

By following these steps, I have ranked several keywords for my website without any backlinking’s.
